This exciting STEM event took place at the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center on the Louisiana Tech University campus, attracting 8 schools, 32 teams, and nearly 100 students who competed fervently throughout the day across middle and high school divisions.

Tensas Academy's High School Team (Katie VandeVen, Kathleen Paxton, & Emma VandeVen) emerged triumphant, securing an impressive 2nd place. Their achievement underscores the dedication and talent within Tensas Academy's STEM program. The Middle School Team (Annabelle Adams, Catherine Davis, Hannah McMahon, Emma Robin, Donald VandeVen, and Kennedi Williams) made a great showing and will be back again next year 

SeaPerch, an underwater Robotics program, provides students a unique opportunity to construct underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV). Throughout the competition, students gain hands-on experience building ROVs, acquiring knowledge of crucial components such as motors, propellers, buoyancy, and electronic circuitry. These skills are fundamental for understanding machine operations and electronic systems, which are vital in today's technology-driven world.

The competition fosters technical skills and emphasizes teamwork, communication, and collaboration. Building an ROV within a group setting encourages students to work together effectively, preparing them for success in future engineering endeavors and project-based environments.

Tensas Academy's participation in the SeaPerch Challenge underscores its commitment to providing students with innovative STEM education opportunities. The success achieved at the event reflects the dedication of students and educators at Tensas Academy.

The holiday season is upon us, and Tensas Academy's Student Council is gearing up to spread some Christmas cheer! This year, we're partnering with the Council on Aging to bring joy and comfort to some of our community's most cherished members.

From December 11th to 14th, we'll be collecting donations for our senior friends. Think cozy blankets, warm socks, soothing lotions, and delightful snacks like puzzles and hot chocolate. Imagine the joy on their faces as they open a box brimming with thoughtful gifts, reminding them they are loved and remembered.

Here's a peek into what we're looking for:
Healthy snacks: Who can resist a sweet treat during the holidays? We're collecting healthy snacks like granola bars, nuts, and dried fruit to keep our seniors energized and happy.
Warmth and comfort: Let's wrap our seniors in warmth and comfort with cozy blankets, warm gloves, and comfy slippers. Imagine them snuggled up by a fire, enjoying a steaming mug of coffee or tea, all thanks to your generosity.
Personal care essentials: Let's ensure our seniors have everything they need to feel their best. Gentle shampoos, soothing lotions, and handy razors are just a few things on our wish list.
Games and activities: Let's keep their minds sharp and spirits high with fun activities like puzzles, playing cards, and stationery. Imagine them sharing laughter and stories while playing a card game or piecing together a beautiful puzzle.


By donating to the Student Council's Christmas drive, you're not just giving gifts; you're sharing the warmth of the holiday spirit and making a real difference in the lives of our senior citizens. Every donation, big or small, will put a smile on their faces and show them how much they are loved by our community.

So, join us in spreading the holiday cheer! Drop off your donations to the festive box waiting in the hallway outside the Tensas Academy Office between December 11th and 14th. Together, we can make this a Christmas to remember for our cherished seniors!
